This research was conducted to investigate the personality characteristics of offsprings of alocholic patients. The total sample included 36 offsprings of alcoholics who received admission care in Taegu M ental Hospital from May 1. 1993 to October 31. 1993 and 41 offsprings of nonalcoholics. All respondents completed a self-report instrument of standardized personality diagnostic test (SPD T). Results were as follows: 1) None of SPDT measures were elevated to a clinically significant level of personality characteristics and psychopathology. 2) There were no significant differences on all of the measures of SPDT between the children of the alcoholics and of the nonalcoholics. 3) On the measures of impulsiveness of SPDT, the daughters of the alcoholics were more impulsive than those of the nonalcoholics, when collected data were analysed by two-way ANOVA (p<.05).
