We report a 65-year-old female patient of dermatitis artefacta who complained extreme itching sensation on the posterior cervical neck and the superior scapular region with scratching behavior. She came to the psychiatric department with concurrent problems, such as anxiety, depressive mood, insomnia. These may have probable relationship to the pathogenesis of the posterior cervical neck and the superior scapular region problem. The patient was unaware or denied the presence of emotional problem. As the patient’ s psychological symptoms improved with antidepressant, anxiolytic medication, the dermatologic itching sensation was also reduced. We suggested to the dermatologist to make the patient with dermatitis artefacta recognize that psychiatric consultation may be useful adjunct to treatment and improvement
