This study was conducted to assess the stress, stress coping strategies and marital interaction in wives of alcoholics. A questionaire inquiring the rating scales was administered to 20 wives of alcoholics and 20 wives of social drinkers as a control group. The questionaire contained severity of stress, stress coping strategies, sexual satisfaction, and marital intimacy scale. The results indicated that wives of alcoholics appear to experience more stressful life events in the area of marital, sexual, and financial problem than control group. And they used the emotional relief coping strategies less than control group. The wives of alcoholics reported less intimate feeling with their husband in sexual, intellectual and recreational area than control group.
