The authors investigated clinical symptoms in 89 autistic children meeting the diagnostic criteria of DSM-III-R. All items of autistic disorder of DSM-III-R were classified as A, B and C group which included 5 items(A1-A5), 6 items(Bl-B6) and 5 items(C1-C5), respectively. The results were summarized as follows: There were 65 males and 24 females, with the mean age being 74.8±4L2 months(18-19 months). The item with highest frequency(98.9%) was A4 and items recognized above 90% were A5(95.5%), B3(97.8%), B4(92.1 %) and C5(93.3%). Items with least frequency were B1 and B6, respectively(15.7%). Group items in order of freqneucy were A(742%), C(62.5%) and B(56.6%). A3 and B2 were higher frequent in younger children and B5, C3, C4 and C were higher frequent in elder children. A2 and A were higher frequent in female than male children
