Psychoactive substance abuse, especially repetious gas form of butane inhalation or gluesniffing is not so scarce for adolescents recently. Careful effort to find out clinical characteristics of 35 young patients aged fourteen to nineteen, hospitalized with glue-sniffing or butane gas inhalation showed some meaningul results. The results were as follows: 1) 65.2% of patients replied that they had been grown up with family problems, some were in broken family and some were seperated from their parents to the out of control. 2) Initiation of gas inhalation with peer pressure were the most common, and maintenance for emotional relaxation too. So it suggests a pattern of inhalent abuse inition of peer pressure, maintenance for peace-seeking. 3) 51.4% of patients abused Dextrometrophan simutaneously after initiation of glue-sniffing or butane gas inhalation, it means a possibility that inhalent abuse plays a role as the stepping stone toward other drug abuse in adolescents
