입원한 여성 알콜중독환자에 대한 임상적 고찰

A Clinical Study of Female Alcoholics Admitted to a Mental Hospital

Thirty two female alcoholics admitted to the Taegu mental hospital from January 1987 to September 1992 were investigated to examine the clinical characteristics of hospitalized female alcoholics. The results were as follows: 1) The proportion of alcoholic patients among psychiatric inpatients increased each year and the proportion of females among alcoholics also increased in recent years. 2) The level of education and socioeconomic state were relatively low. 3) Most of patients were admitted against their will and few patients visited O P D regularly after discharge. 4) Twentyfive percent of patients started to drink excessively in their teens, 34.4% did in the 3rd decade, and 40.6% did in the 4th decade. 5) About 73% of hospitalized female alcoholics smoked tobacco concurrently. 6) One or both parents were also alcoholics in 46.7%. 7) Affective disorders were the most frequently associated mental disorders.
