일본 오사카부(大阪府) 도야마(堂山) 1호분 출토 스에키(須惠器)의 계보와 제작배경

A Study on the Genealogy and Manufacturing Background of the Sueki from Doyama Tomb No.1 at Osaka Prefecture in Japan

일본 오사카부(大阪府) 다이토시(大東市)의 동부에 소재하는 도야마고분군(堂山古墳群) 내에 위치한 도야마 1호분(堂山 1號墳)은 1973년 발굴조사되었고, 봉분의 끝자락 하니와(埴輪)열의 안쪽에서 고배, 기대, 옹 등으로 구성된 스에키가 다수 출토되었다. 이 스에키는 독특한 형태와 문양 등을 가지고 있는데, 그 생산지는 스에무라(陶邑)가 아닌 기타카와찌지역(北河內地域)으로 추측되었고, 시기는 TK73형식과 병행하는 것으로 알려져 왔다. 하지만 이 스에키의 계보와 제작배경에 대해서는 별다른 연구가 진행되지 않았다. 이에 필자는 한국 영남지방 내 성주양식 토기와의 비교・검토를 실시하였고, 도야마 1호분 출토 스에키는 영남지방의 성주지역에 출자를 둔 공인집단의 영향에 의해 제작되었으며, 그 배경에는 5세기 전엽 신라와 왜의 친연관계가 자리하고 있었음을 추정하였다. 또한 당시 세토나이카이(瀨戶內海)의 동쪽에 해당하는 오사카만(大阪灣)에 면한 각 지역 내에는 성주지역에 출자를 둔 지배층 인물 혹은 공인집단이 존재하고 있었을 것으로 추정하였고, 일본 내 초기 스에키 제작과 관련된 공인의 출자를 대부분 낙동강 하류역의 김해・부산지역으로만 보는 것은 약간의 재고가 필요할 것으로 판단하였다.

Doyama Tomb No. 1 situated amongst the Doyama Ancient Tombs located within the eastern section of Daito City in Osaka Prefecture was excavated in 1973. A large number of initial Sueki found within the mound of Doyama Tomb No. 1 were distinctive in terms of form and pattern. The Sueki was identified as having been manufactured in Kitagawachi at around the former part of the fifth century. However, the origin and the background of the appearance of the Sueki has not been studied. As such, the author attempted a comparative analysis between Seongju style pottery of the Yeongnam region of the Korean Peninsula and the initial Sueki of Doyama Tomb No. 1. As a result, it was suggested that the Sueki of Doyama Tomb No. 1 had been produced with the participation of a group of potters that came from the Seongju area of the Korean Peninsula. Finally, it was concluded that the current view in which the origins of the initial Sueki are limited to the Busan and Gimhae areas of the Yeongnam region must be reconsidered.
