This study was carried out in efforts to find out, if any, some particular psychological motivatioa which acounts for the attitude of drug evaders in Korean chronic hospitalized schizophrenic patients. Fifteen patients were selected as the definite drugevaders after the urinary examination using Forrest5 s FNP test which is simple, rapid, and at least semiquantative test for chlorpromazine in urine. The CPH factor scale developed by Kahn and applied to Korean hospitalized mental patients by Lee and Jin was used as well as individual psychiatric interview to measure the patients’ attitude toward the hospital and especially authoritative figures. In the group of drug evaders, comparing to drug acceptor group, we were not able to find out any particular constellation of attitude, although it was understood that some psychiatrists in different culture claims that drug evader is perhaps influenced by his* negative attitude toward a coercive father image. Thus, We feel that the reason and motivation of negative attitude of Korean patients toward tranquilizer should be taken account of each individual’s special multi factors
