맞벌이 가족 내 부부적응과 유아의 문제행동 간의 관계: 조모 양육행동의 조절효과

Effects of Grandmothers’ Parenting Practices on Parents and Preschoolers in Dual-Income Families

본 연구는 가족체계론의 관점에서 맞벌이 가족 내 부부적응과 유아의 문제행동 간의 관계를 알아보고 그 관계에서 양육을 지원하는 조모의 양육행동이 가지는 조절효과를 검증하였다. 이를 위해 조모의 양육지원을 받고 있는 만 4∼5세 유아를 둔 취업모를 대상으로 조사를 실시하였다. 위계적 회귀분석결과, 부부적응의 하위요인 중 부부만족과 조모의 권위있는 양육은 유아의 문제행동과 부적 관계를, 조모의 권위주의 양육은 유아의 문제행동과 정적 관계를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 부부만족과 유아의 문제행동의 관계에서 조모의 권위있는 양육이 조절효과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 구체적으로, 부부만족이 낮더라도 조모의 권위있는 양육이 높은 집단에서는 유아의 문제행동이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 맞벌이 가족 내 유아의 문제행동을 다루기 위해서 유아 개인에 대한 개입을 넘어 가족체계론적 관점에서 부부체계와 조부모-손자녀체계를 아우르는 가족치료적 개입이 필요함을 시사한다.

Objectives: This study investigated the moderating effect of grandmothers’ parenting practices on the marital adjustment of dual-income parents and the behavioral problems of their preschool children. Methods: The sample included 106 working mothers with preschool children (aged 4 or 5) who were receiving childcare support from grandmothers. Results: Regression analysis revealed that parental marital satisfaction and grandmothers’ parenting practices both had additive main effects on children’s behavior problems, independent of each other. Further, the moderating effect of grandmothers was detected in the relationship between marital adaptation and the children’s behavior problems. Conclusion: When working with dual-income families with preschoolers showing behavior problems, family therapists need to adopt a family systems perspective and intervene in both the couple subsystem and the grandparent-grandchild subsystem.
