심한 월경전 증후군 환자에서의 단기 순환 정동장애 1례

A Case of Rapid Cycling Affective Disorder in Patient with Severe Premenstrual Syndrome

저자들은 정동장애 개인력과 가족력은 없었으나 초경이후 월경전 증후군이 심했으며 뇌단일광자 방출 전 산화 단층촬영(SPECT)상 우 측두엽의 국소 혈류감소가 있었던 단기 순환형 정동장애 환자 1례를 경험하였 기에 보고한다.

Authors report a case of rapid cycling affective disorder(RCAD) who has suffered severe premenstrual syndrome since her menarch. Even if what relationship and etiology these disorders may have are undetermined, premenstrual syndrome and RCAD indeed share many characteristics and estrogen may have central role in these disorders. Patient showed a significant decrease of cerebral blood flow of right temporal area on SPECT. It is impressive that carbamazepine was more effective than lithium in treatment of this RCAD case.
