The purpose of this study is to observe the histologic respones of the titanium implant implanted in the fresh extraction socket of the maxilla, which has the more resorption tendency than the mandible, with simultaneous iliac bone graft. In experimental group, titanium threaded implants(3-i company) were implanted to the fresh extraction sockets of the maxillary canine region of the adult dog through the 10mg X 10 mgX1.5mg sized iliac bone grafts. As a control group, titanium implant was implanted to the same region, without iliac bone graft. And periodically, fluorescent materials such as alizarin complexone, calcein, xylenol, oxytetracline were injected intravenously for observing the fluorescence. In 1，2, 4, 8, 12, 16 weeks, the dogs were sacrificed. Specimens were prepared for decalcified samples and observed by microscope, and for ground samples, observed by light microscope and fluorescent microscope. The obtained results were as follows 1. Remodelling of the graft was observed from 2 weeks in experimental group and one week in control group. 2. Remodelling of the graft was active from 2 weeks to 4 weeks. 3. Remodelling was almost achieved in 8-12 weeks from the view of slight fluorescence taking. 4. Along the surface of the connective tissue in the head of the implant, somewhat cementum- like tissue was observed in 16 weeks. 5. Comparing the osseointegration and new bone formation between immediate implantation the underlying with bone graft and without bone graft, I couldn’t find significant difference.
