The purpose of this study was to estimate the function of smooth unthrea ded neck of screw implants, and the effect of the shape of submergedand nonsubmerged implants on the osseointgration between bone and implant. In the right tibia of rabbits, standard Branemark implant with projected square top for torque gauge connector is inserted as a control group, and standard Branemark implant without projected square top is inserted as a experimental group I. In the left tibia of rabbits, all threaded Branemark designed implant without smooth untheaded neck having projected square top for torque gauge connector is inserted as a experimental group II,and all-threaded Branemark implants without having projected square top as a experimental group III. 8 weeks after implants were inserted, estimate the removal torque of each implants. The obtained results were follows ; 1. The removal torque were higher in experimental group I and experi mental group III, than that of control group. But there was no significant differance among control group, experimental group I, and experimental group III (p>0.05). 2. There was no significant differance among the removal torques of control group, experimental group II,and experimental group III (p>0.05).
