Platelet-rich plasma is an autologous source of platelet-derived growth factor and transforming growth factor beta that is obtained sequestering and concentrating platelets by gradient density centrifugation. For the experimental study of PRP, on both mandible lateral side, we augmented autogenous bone from femur head and 크-TCP. On Lt. side we adapted PRP with graft materials and on Rt. side we adapted only graft materials. On the Rt. side PRP was not adapted. After 2,4,8 weeks operation, rabbit was sacrificed. The grafted bone and material was processed and we made block of 10mm thickness slide. With fluoromicroscopy and semiautomatic image analysis system, we observed the change of bone formation and mineral apposition rate. With Goldner s modified Masson trichrome staining, we observed the change of cell. With PRP, osteoid seam is increased about 50% especially on 2 weeks and 4 weeks. And mineral apposition rate is increased about 30%. PRP is effective on both autogenous bone and /?-TCP and more effective on /9-TCP. The amplification of PDGF and TGF-^ through the technique of platelet sequestration and concentration into a PRP is seen as an available and practical tool to enhance the rate of bone formation and the final quantity.
