대학박물관의 운영실태와 특성화방안연구 - 2004년도 운영실태에 대한 현장조사를 중심으로

대학박물관은 대학생 뿐 아니라 일반 대중에게 실물 자료를 통하여 문화의 향유 수준을 향상시키는 목적을 가지고 있다. 그리고 우리의 고유한 역사와 문화유산인 유물을 보존관리하고 전시함으로써 역사문화에 대한 전통문화의 교육기관 역할은 물론 연구 활동에 자료를 제공하고 활성화하는데 커다란 기여를 하고 있다. 비록 대학박물관이 시대의 상황변화에 능동적이고 적극적으로 대처하지는 못하였다고 할지라도 학문적인 연구 성과는 물론 우리나라의 박물관이 나아가야 할 방향을 제시하고 있었음은 커다란 성과이다. 게다가 대학박물관은 전국 각지에 분포하고 있기 때문에 국공립박물관이나 문화기관이 없는 지역에서 공공의 문화기관 역할을 대행하고 있다. 하지만 대학박물관이 문화유산에 대한 학술적 조사 그리고 교육적 학습자료의 연구에 지대한 공로가 있다고 할지라도 새로운 방향을 모색하지 않으면 안될 위기에 처하고 있다. 이에 대학박물관은 무엇보다도 법적 근거를 마련하기 위한 적극적인 대처 노력이 필요하며, 소장 자료의 전문화에 따른 특성화 방안를 강구하여야 한다. 그리고 21세기가 지식 경영의 시대. 문화의 세기가 될 것이라는 예측 속에서 학술자료에 대한 교육적 기능을 활용한 지적 재산권의 확보와 함께 새로운 가치 창출을 위해 더욱 많은 노력을 해야 한다.

The major role of university museum is the enhancement of cultural level for both students and citizen by means of exhibiting stored heritage materials. University museums play important role in providing research and education service about traditional culture by preserving and displaying heritage materials with historical and cultural values. Moreover, since university museums are widely located in south korea, it plays as public cultural organization for citizen at some regions where don t have any public cultural organizations or national museums. Although university museum didn t respond with the change of the time actively and aggressively, it has greatly obtained the excellent result of scholastic research and the suggestion of the way of university museum. Even though university museum has many positive achievements at scholastic study and cultural research of educational materials about cultural heritages, it is faced on difficulties in searching the new roles of university museum. So university museum should aggressively prepare legal supporting for developing the advanced role and study specific reinforcement plans based on stored materials. For the coming 21 century representing as the era of knowledge based society and cultural centered society, university museum should need more efforts to make new value creating model and intellectual property right using educational services based on scholastic study and cultural research.
