대학박물관의 전시연계교육 실태와 활성화방안 연구

우리나라의 대학박물관은 급속한 산업화와 도시화에 따른 학술적 조사기능과 함께 학생 및 지역주민을 위한 문화교육기관의 역할을 수행하면서 성장하였다. 그러나 최근들어 급격한 과학기술의 발달과 사회적 환경의 변화에 따라 전시와 교육기능을 결합한 새로운 박물관역할의 패러다임 창출이 필요한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 대학박물관의 전시와 이를 연계한 전시교육활동의 활성화 방안에 대하여 살펴보았다. 전통적으로 학술조사에서 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 설립한 대학박물관은 조사지역의 출토자료와 지역사회의 정체성을 결합한 연계방안으로 특성화하여야 한다. 또한 기증이나 구입으로 이루어진 대학박물관은 전시중심의 교육프로그램을 적극 개발하여야 한다. 이를 위하여 지역사회와 협력체계를 구축하고 이를 정보네트워크로 활용하는 방안을 점진적으로 모색하여야 한다. 그리고 전시연계교육활동에 대한 평가방안을 적극적으로 개발하여 지방자치단체가 지원체계로 활용할 수 있도록 노력하여야 한다. 이러한 방안은 대학박물관이 발굴과 수집에서 습득한 자료가 점차 국가기관으로 이관되는 현실에서 전시연계교육의 발전방향과 특성화를 위한 새로운 역할과 모델을 구축할 수 있을 것이다.

This study aimed to identify the exhibition activities of university museums using their possessions without restricting their activities for academic exploration, research according to their traditional works for exploration and collection, and how to conduct (or manage) education programs in connection with exhibitions. The results of this study can be used to establish new models of university museums for specialization as well as the directions of development of exhibitions and education of university museums. University museums have been faithfully performing their roles as social educational institutes for residents as well as making significant academic contributions investigating relics in the rapid industrialization and urbanization processes. However, it is required to create new paradigms of academic activities combining the education and research functions and to identify new roles in accordance with changes in the social educational environment. As a result, university museums must specialize and manage education programs concentrating their research ability on the basis of the data collected from academic research or exploration of local culture. Investigations by university museums, exhibition of data collected from such investigations, and education programs using the experience from investigations and the data results can be a new learning method. Furthermore, university museums will establish a kind of model of social education, identify the approaches to cooperate with local administrations and cultural foundations through in-depth research on local culture. Therefore, university museums are able to give a model to construct social education systems and develop approaches of cooperation with local administrations in the information network. To this end, it is required to support to develop and conduct museum education programs in connection with exhibitions. For that, it is necessary to support appropriate systems for evaluation plans of the exhibitions of university museums and the education programs related to exhibitions. Furthermore, university will make their efforts to foster their specialized museums by using their collections and education programs as well as connect their qualified cultural contents with unique local culture.
