대학박물관의 정보화 현황과 과제 - 전북대박물관 ‘호남기록문화시스템’을 중심으로

The Present Status and Tasks of the DB Construction at University Museums -With Honam Documentary Culture System at Chonbuk National University Museum-

본 논문은 전북대박물관에서 구축한 ‘호남기록문화시스템’을 중심으로 대학박물관의 DB구축사업의 현황과 과제를 살펴본 것이다. 한국대학박물관협회 회원교 104개 교중 홈페이지를 운영하고 있는 박물관은 71%에 지나지 않고, 대학 메인홈페이지에 직접 링크된 학교는 9개교에 불과하다. 이는 대학 내의 박물관의 위상을 가늠해 볼 수 있는 수치이다. 특히 국가문화유산정보화사업에 참여한 53개 대학박물관의 시스템 관리도 43% 정도만이 정상 운영 중일 정도로 열악하다. 그러나 몇몇 대학박물관의 사례는 주목할 만하다. 한신대학교박물관과 같이 학술적인 자료의 대부분을 PDF파일로 서비스하는 것은 대학박물관의 활성화 방안중의 하나이다. 전북대학교박물관에서 구축한 ‘호남기록문화시스템’은 정보통신부로부터 11억원의 국비를 받아 추진한 ‘호남지역 고문서 디지털화 사업’이다. 이 사업은 30년 넘게 고문서를 집중적으로 수집하고 연구한 특성화 전략과 연구비 확보를 위한 지속적인 노력, 전문인력의 확보 등을 통해 가능하였다. 사업의 추진과정에서 구축한 호남지역 10개 박물관의 협력 네트워크는 향후 대학박물관의 위상을 어떻게 규정지을 것인가에 대한 유요한 사례이다. 대학박물관의 정보화를 위해서는 (1) 대학박물관의 특성화 전략을 수립하고, (2) 대학박물관별 협력 네트워크를 구축하며, (3) 구축 가능한 정보화 대상을 조사하고 사업화 할 수 있는 아이템을 기획해야 할 것이다. 이울러 (4) 다양한 노하우를 공유하고 전분 인력을 확보하기 위한 노력이 필요하다. 그러나 무엇보다 대학박물관이 가지고 있는 정보화 가능성을 고려해 볼 때 문화유산에 대한 학술DB의 종합적 구축을 위한 국가적 차원의 사업추진을 모색할 필요가 있으며, 이는 한국대학박물관협회 차원에서 기획되어야 할 필요가 있다.

This paper studies the present status and tasks of the database construction project of university museums with the case of Honam Documentary Culture System constructed by Chonbuk National University Museum. Among 104 universities which join Korean Association of University Museums, 71% of them have their own homepages, only 9 of which link their homepages to their university s main server. This figure shows the present status of university museums. Especially, system management of the 53 university museums which take part in National Cultural Heritage Information Project is so poor that only 43% of them can operate it normally. However, the cases of a few university museums are remarkable enough to look at. It is one of the revitalization plans of university museums to serve most of the academic materials as PDF files like Hanshin University Museum. Honam Documentary Culture System constructed by Chonbuk National University Museum was Digitalization Project of the Old Documents of Honam Area which was performed with the support of 110 million won by the Ministry of Information and Communication. This project was made possible thanks to their characterizing strategies to collect and research old documents over 30 years, continuous endeavor to get financial support, and finally collection of experts to do the project at Chonbuk National University Museum. The cooperative network of 10 university museums around Honam area which has been constructed in the process of the project will be a significant case on how to identify the status of university museums ahead. To make information-oriented university museums, they should 1) set up their own strategies to get themselves characterized, 2) construct the cooperative network among university museums, 3) research the objects of information which can be constructed to find out the useful items for the project. In addition, 4) sharing various know-hows and collecting experts should, most of all, be done. Actually, university museums have accumulated heaps of data which are enough to make themselves information-oriented institutes. Thus, there must be a great national project to construct the general academic database of our cultural heritage, and it should be planned by Korean Association of University Museums.
