A study on the old mounds culture in Changwon and Masan area

지금까지 가야사 연구는 금관가야, 매가야, 아라가야 등의 유력 정치체를 중심으로 진행되어 왔으며 , 다양한 고고학적 자료의 확보에도 불구하고 지리적으로 諸가야의 漸移地帶에 있는 창원ㆍ마산지역에 대한 연구는 소외되어 있었다. 이에 본고에서는 기존에 이루어진 유력 제가야 중심의 연구에서 탈피하여 창원ㆍ마산지역에 대한 직접적인 연구를 통해 창원ㆍ마산지역 고분문화의 추이와 성격에 대해 논해 보았다. 창원ㆍ마산지역은 제가야외 유력 정지체들이 주변을 둘러싸고 있어 주변 정세에 매우 민감할 수밖에 없었으며 독자적인 발전이 어려웠다고 지금까지 알려져 있었다. 그러나 지리적으로 살펴보면 북으로는 낙동강, 남으로는 마산만을 끼고 있어 오히려 우월한 입지의 교역로를 가지고 있었다, 이러한 지리적 환경속에서 다양한 지역적 특색을 가진 유물이 출토되고 있어, 특정 정치체에 속했다기보다는 오히려 지리적 특성을 살려 교류와 교역의 중심지라고 할수 있는 독립적인 모습이었을 가능성은 충분히 있다고 본다. 따라서 창원ㆍ마산지역 고분집단은 주변 강대국의 세력변화에 적절히 대응하고, 완충지역의 이점을 살려 독자적인 고분문화를 가지고 있었으며, 신라에 복속되기 전까지 마산만ㆍ낙동강을 중심으로 주변과의 독자적인 대외관계를 유지하였음을 알 수 있다.

Until now, Gaya history has been studied laying on stress on powerful politics organization of Gumguangaya(金官伽耶), Daegaya(大伽耶)and Aragaya(阿羅伽耶) so on. Despite being verity historical data, the study of Changwon and Masan located change zone of all Gayas geographically had been alienated. Therefore because people have never done basic historical study about old mounds in Changwon and Masan area, it was very difficult to understand the ancient culture of Changwon and Masan area. So I tried to get to the character of old mounds in Changwon and Masan area through direct study getting out of the study based on powerful Gayas as well. At first, I collected all the excavated earthenware, and then, classified as forms laying stress on each items. And as a base on this, applying occurrence seriation, and I chronicle as six step. Under this data, I found higher group as analysis the rank of each old mound group. And then I review the transition of earthenware distribution, and investigated the change aspect of old mound group located Changwon and Masan area in relationship with around Gayas. The Changwon and Masan area has been located with profitable trade road as Nakdong river to North and Masan gulf to South, and it has been grown a course independent of other nations with an advantage of a buff region and a step in the right direction to the influence change. Therefore the growth of Gaya in Changwon and Masan area group appeared from four century developed after a bearish trend of Gumguangaya power, and when Aragaya became powerful nation in the end of five century, the Gaya in Changwon and Masan also had been maintained before being subjugated Silla keeping the course independent of other nation.
