The Core - Vent Dental Implant System was introduced by Dr. Niznick as one of the osseointegrated dental implants in 1982. This system has been modified to be applicable to any edentulous condition with versatility. This is to evaluate the prognosis of Core - Vent Implants examined for 4years. 24 implants were placed into the posterior edentulous mandibles and 10 implants had been followed up for 2 - 4 years after prosthetic restoration. 5 were prototype titanium alloy implants and others were pure titanium implants with hex hole for cemented connection. Of 24 implants, 2(8.3%) were removed away due to lack of osseointegration and one was expelled in 3 years due to mobility. And 9(90.0%) of 10 implants which had been followed for over 2 years resulted in good function without any mobility but with some degree of marginal bone loss (2.6± 0.9mm). 80% of patients satisfied with the implant supported prostheses and assessed them as 9.2/10 of selfsatisfaction on the visual analogue scale.
