The purpose of this essay is to interpret Kim Kyoung-joo’s “Sweet Nothings: Poetic Fantasy of the Body” from the perspective of Lacan. Kim repeatedly attempts to come close to the Real that Lacan says. To him, each part of body is petit object a that gets close to the Real. This essay sees how each object a gets close the Real. From the cheek to the shadow, Kim repeated endless slip of metonymy. But without being trapped in symbolic order, he gets close the Real. To him, poem is the ecliptic to the Real. He travels along the signifiang of body to change the symptoms into the sinthome. He goes beyond the symbolic order and orbits around the Real. In conclusion, this essay is a travel getting close to the Real as tracing Kim’s petit object a.
