그림 그리기 활동에 나타난 에너지, 기후 변화에 대한 초등학생의 인식

Perception of Elementary Students in Word Association and Drawing Activities on Energy and Climate Change

본 연구는 초등학생의 에너지와 기후 변화에 대한 인식을 알아보기 위해 그림 그리기 활동과 단어연상 활동을 통하여 그림과 단어에 나타난 학생들의 인식을 분석한 것이다. 이를 위해 6학년 학생 33명이 ‘에너지’와 ‘기후 변화’라는 개념에 대해 연상되는 단어를 9개 쓰도록 했으며, 그림은 현재와 미래를 구분하여 표현하도록 하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다; 첫째, 초등학생들이 에너지라는 개념에 의해 가장 많이 연상되는 단어는 ‘전기’였으며, 그 뒤를 이어 ‘태양’, ‘친환경’, ‘발전소’, ‘신재생’, ‘전구’의 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 초등학생들이 ‘기후 변화’라는 개념에 의해 가장 많이 연상되는 단어는 ‘지구온난화’였으며, 그 뒤를 이어 ‘오존층’, ‘북극곰’, ‘이산화탄소’, ‘원자’의 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 에너지 관련 그림에 나타난 학생들의 반응은 현재의 상황은 부정적이지만 미래의 상황은 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 기후 변화 관련 그림에 나타난 학생들의 반응 결과는 현재의 상황과 미래의 상황을 모두 부정적으로 보고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study is to understand elementary students perceptions of ‘energy’ and ‘climate change’ through drawing activities and word association activities. For this study, 33 6th graders were asked to write nine words associated with the concepts of ‘energy’ and ‘climate change’ and to draw the pictures on present and future. The results of the study are as follows; First, the word that most elementary students were reminded about by the concept of energy was ‘electricity’, followed by ‘sun’, ‘environmentally friendly’, ‘power plant’, ‘renewable’. Second, elementary school students were most reminiscent of the term ‘climate change’ as ‘global warming’ followed by ‘ozone layer’, ‘polar bear’, ‘carbon dioxide’, ‘atom’. Third, the responses of students in the energy-related picture show that the present situation is negative but the future situation is positive. Fourth, the results of the students’ responses to the climate change picture show that both the current situation and the future situation are negative.
