본 연구에서는 청소년의 진로성숙도와 행복 수준의 향상을 위한 진로탐색 프로그램의 효과를 조사하였다. 또한 진로성숙도와 행복(삶의 만족감, 긍정 정서, 부정 정서) 간의 영향 관계를 검증하였고, 이러한 관계가 성별에 따라 다른지를 확인하였다. 부산 지역 총 223명의 중학생(남학생 105명, 여학생 118명)을 대상으로 8회기에 걸친 진로탐색 프로그램을 실시하고, 교차-지연 패널 모형 검증을 사용하여 프로그램 실시 전과 실시 4주 후의 진로성숙도와 행복 간의 영향 관계를 조사하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 프로그램 실시 전에 비해서 실시 4주 후 프로그램 참여 중학생의 진로성숙도와 행복 수준이 유의하게 증가하였다. 둘째, 남자 중학생의 경우 진로성숙도 사전 점수와 4주 후 삶의 만족 및 긍정 정서 점수 간에 유의한 영향 관계가 발견된 반면, 여자 중학생에서는 이러한 관계가 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 남자 중학생의 경우, 진로성숙도 수준을 높이기 위해 개발된 진로탐색 프로그램의 실시로 주관적 행복 수준, 특히 삶의 만족과 긍정 정서 수준이 높아질 수 있음을 시사한다. 끝으로 본 연구의 의의와 한계점에 대해 논의하였다.
The present study examined an effectiveness an structured, 8-session career exploration program on career maturity and happiness with a large group of middle school students. In addition, this study investigated the causal relationships between career maturity and components of happiness (life satisfaction, positive affect, and negative affect) and tested if the causal relationships among variables differed by gender. Two hundred and twenty three middle school students participated in a career exploration program and completed career maturity and happiness inventories twice before program (Time 1) and 4 weeks after program (Time 2). Cross-lagged panel analysis method was utilized to examine the causal relationships. Study results indicated that compared to Time 1, students’ levels of career maturity and happiness significantly increased at Time 2. Furthermore, cross-lagged panel analysis results indicated that for male students, career maturity at Time 1 predicted life satisfaction and positive affect at Time 2. However, no causal relationships was found in female students. Implications of the study findings were discussed.
