과거의 여성들은 사회 변화를 이끌어가는 주류집단에 참여하지 못했고, 새로운 역할 정립의 과제와 함께 산업화의 소외된 집단으로 남게된 경험을 갖고 있다. 그러나 최근 사회변화에 따 른 성역할 변화로 인하여 가정과 사회에서 여성의 역할과 지위가 많이 변하였다. 따라서 이 논 문은, 21세기의 한국 여성의 지위 변화를 조망하고 이에 대응하여 여성교육의 방향을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 인구고령화로 인한 노인 여성의 복지문제, 여성 고학력화에 따른 대졸여성의 취업과 탈양육 기의 여성 재취업 문제, 모성보호 문제, 정책결정 과정에서의 여성 소외 등 교육적 과제를 모 색하였다. 보다 구체적으로 이 논문은, 학교 교육과정에서 성평등이 강화되어야 하며, 여성의 전문직업능력 개발을 위한 교육지원이 확대되어야 하고, 여성 사회교육의 내실화를 기해야 한 다고 주장한다. 21세기의 여성들은 전통적 여성상에서 탈피하여 급속한 사회변화를 주도할 수 있어야 한다. 그리고 이를 위해서 활동적인 어머니상, 직업활동에서 적극적인 여성, 사회활동에서 주도적인 여성을 위한 교육이 필요하고, 이와 아울러 여성들의 평생학습을 위한 제도적 기반 구축이 필 요하다.
In the past, women were excluded from participation in the process of industrialization. However, social changes in recent years have dramatically changed gender roles, affecting women's status in the family and society. Through a survey of the changing status of women in 21st century Korean society, this paper addresses the current situation of Korean women's education. To solve problems such as the social welfare of elderly women, the employment of female college graduates, and protection of mother's rights, it is imperative to provide educational training which can promote the status of women in Korean society. Namely, gender equality should be strengthened in school curriculum, educational support should be expanded for the development of women's professional skills, and social education for women should be promoted as well. The 21st century woman needs to escape her traditional typecast, and actively participate in directing today's rapidly changing society. To that end, we need an educational system that can make women active as mothers, active in the workplace, and leaders in society. We need to construct an institutionalized foundation for the lifetime education of women in society.
