이 연구는 고등학생들에게 있어 직업이란 무엇이며, 직업은 왜 선택되지 않으면 안되는 과제인가, 그 들의 장래에 대한 희망이 직업과 어떤 연관성이 있는가, 아울러 학교생활 이외에 아르바이트와 직업체험 활동 등과 같은 사회참여활동이 그들에게 있어 어떠한 의미를 지니고 있는가를 살펴보았다. 이 연구의 목적은 장래의 희망 직업유무와 직업미결정성향에 대한 분석을 통해 직업에 대한 고등학생들의 인식을 규명하는 것이며, 성별이나 학급, 학교 성적, 가족배경, 진로계획, 그리고 특별히 사회활동참여가 이러한 인식에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보는 것이다. 연구의 결과로는 첫째, 희망직업모형에 있어 남녀학생간의 차이는 유의하지 않았으나 직업미결정성향 에 대한 모형에서는 남학생이 여학생보다 직업미결정성향이 강한 것으로 나타났다. 두 번째, 학급간 차이 는 뚜렷하지 않았으며 학교 유형별 차이나 학교 성적의 영향은 매우 분명하게 확인되었다. 곧 실업고 학 생일수록 인문고 학생보다, 성적이 낮을수록 장래의 직업을 희망하지 않을 가능성이 높게 나타났다. 셋 째, 가족배경은 직업에 대한 고등학생들의 인식과 유의미한 관계를 보여주지 않았다. 넷째, 고등학교 졸 업 후 진학을 고려중인 집단이 취업 또는 진로미결정집단에 비해 직업미결정성향이 낮은 것으로 나타났 다. 본 연구의 주된 관심사인 사회참여활동과 관련 직업체험활동과 자원봉사활동 경험은 직업미결정성향 을 낮추는데 있어서 긍정적인 영향을 미친 반면 아르바이트 경험은 유의한 영향을 보여주지 않았다.
This research explores the important meaning of vocation or job for young people, especially for the high school students. Furthermore, this research explores why the choosing a proper job is significant for young people, and how it effects young people's future vocation. and then finally, this research reveals how social participation activities influence young people's vocational consciousness. This research explores how young people are aware of having job by looking at their decision of future job. And it investigates the impacts of gender, class, academic attainment, family background, future career plan, expecially, how social participation help young people's decision for their future job. As a result, boy students and vocational high school students showed lack of decision making for their future job, and also the low fliers showed their lack of interest in making decision in their jobs. Second, the group of people who intends to get a higher education, showed higher decision making in their career than someone who has not got decision whether getting a higher education or starting work. finally, volunteering and vocational experience activities in school influenced young people's decision making in a very positive way, however, part-time job experience did not.
