본 연구에서는 한국직업능력개발원의 한국교육고용패널(KEEP) 자료를 사용하여 고등학생의 교 육포부 결정요인을 분석하였다. 대졸을 기준으로 하여 다항로짓 모형을 추정한 결과, 전문대졸 이 하의 교육포부를 갖는 데는 자신의 학업성취, 거주지, 사교육비, 어머니의 지원, 친구의 학업성취가 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 대학원졸 이상의 학력을 추구하는 학 생의 교육포부는 자신의 학업성취, 자아정체감, 사교육비, 가계소득, 의미 있는 교사의 존재에 의해 결정적으로 영향을 받는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 한편 남학생과 여학생의 교육포부는 서로 상당히 다른 요인들의 지배를 받고 있었다. 특히 교육포부에 영향을 미치는 의미 있는 타인의 존재가 성별에 따 라 달랐다. 그리하여 대졸 희망자와 대비하여 전문대졸 이하의 교육포부를 가진 남학생에게는 친구 의 낮은 학업성취가 결정적인 영향을 미치고 있었고, 동일한 교육포부의 여학생에게는 어머니의 미 흡한 지원이 교육포부를 낮추는 데 핵심적인 작용을 하고 있었다. 마지막으로, 대학원졸 이상의 고 학력을 추구하는 데는 가정의 경제력이 남학생보다는 여학생에게 훨씬 더 중요한 제약요인이 되는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
Using a sample from the Korean Education Employment Panel(KEEP), this study attempts to explore the influence of significant others on educational aspiration of high school students. As a result of multinominal logistic regression analysis, with a group of students that have aspirations to graduate from university as the reference category, their own academic achievement, place of residence, private education expenditures, support of mother, and friends' academic achievement were found to be statistically significant factors for students when deciding a target educational level of junior college or less. In contrast, their own academic achievement, ego-identity, family income, private education expenditures, and existence of meaningful teacher were found to be deciding factors for students who aspire for a master's degree and other subsequent degrees. Meanwhile, there was a significant difference between male and females students in the factors that influence their educational aspirations. In particular, the person who influenced their educational aspirations was different between the genders. When compared to students who aspired to attend university, male students whose target education level was junior college or less were influenced by low academic achievement of their friends. For female students, however, insufficient support from their mother was the major factor that led them to lower their educational aspirations. Finally, this analysis showed that the economic status of the family is a much greater restricting factor for females than males when it comes to aspiring for a master's degree and beyond.
