이 논문은 2000년 이후 급격하게 팽창하기 시작한 한국사회 ‘다문화교육’ 연구동향과 쟁 점을 분석하여 교육사회학 연구에의 시사점 모색을 위한 목적으로 이루어졌다. 따라서 단순 히 연구의 양적인 결과를 정리하여 그 흐름을 기계적으로 서술하는 것을 넘어, 한국사회에 서의 지배적인 다문화교육 아젠다는 무엇이고, 무엇이 배제되었는지 그리고 이러한 현상은 무엇을 의미하는지를 맥락적으로 분석하여 교육사회학 연구의 향후 과제를 제시하고자 하였 다. 먼저, 연구동향은 다문화교육 일반론과 교육적 지원 대상으로서의 다문화적 소수집단인 이주배경 가정 자녀들의 교육문제를 다룬 연구로 구별하여 분석하여 그 개괄적 특성을 서술 하였다. 다음으로, 한국사회 다문화교육 연구에 명시적. 암묵적으로 전제 되어 있거나 부각 되어 있는 핵심적인 이슈를 분석하여 연구담론에서의 주요한 쟁점을 논의하였다. 마지막으 로, 이러한 연구결과에 기반하여 교육사회학 연구에의 시사점과 향후과제를 제시하였다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the trends and isssu of multicultural education research in Korea in order to give a implication on research on sociology of education. In other words, this is the attempt to analyse the trends and agenda of multicultural educations research for exploring the henceforth study of sociology of education as a educational response in multicultural society. For this purpose we carried out an analyse research trends in two categories: one is multicultural education as a orientation, policy and curriculum. the other is research on migrant background students. In addition to that this study explore main discourse of multicultural education in Korea as a premise of study on multicultural education. Based on this result, this study suggest the henceforth research subject that research on sociology of education take a important part on research on multicultural education.
