본 연구는 대학생 중도탈락 시기를 살펴보고 중도탈락 시기에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 분 석하고자 수행되었다. 본 연구에서는 고등교육체제로부터의 탈락 초점을 두고 대학 중도탈 락 현상을 살펴보았으며, 한국교육고용패널(KEEP) 1~9차년도 자료를 사용하여 대학에 입학 한 경험이 있는 학생들을 대상으로 생존분석을 적용하였다. 분석 결과, 입학 이후 최초 1년 미만과 3년에서 4년 사이의 기간에 대학중도탈락의 발생 위험이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 대 학 중도탈락 시점에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 성별, 고등학교 당시 교육포부, 고등학교 유 형, 진로진학 교육경험 등의 변인들이 통계적으로 유의미한 영향력을 발휘하는 것으로 확인 되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 최근 한국에서 증가하고 있는 고등교육체제로부터의 중도탈락 현 상을 이해하고 이에 대한 적절한 대비책과 관련 정책방안을 구안하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다.
Drawing on the first to ninth data(2004-2012), this study attempts to examine temporal aspects and determinants of college student departure by applying event history model. Specifically focusing on system departure rather than institutional departure, the result from Cox proportional hazards model suggests that 0 to 1 year and 3 to 4 year after entrance exhibit higher risks of student departure. Moreover, variables such as sex, educational aspiration at high school, track of secondary education, and experience in career education or extracurricular activities exert significant effects on student departure. Findings from this research are expected to lead to in-depth knowledge on increasing college student departure in the Republic of Korea as well as to contribute to develop policy measures to prevent students from leaving colleges
