이전의 산업화시대와는 달리 정보화 시대가 요구하는 새로운 능력으로 정보화능력(information literacy)의 중요성이 우리교육에서 대두되고 있다. 즉, 본격적인 정보화시대를 살아갈 학습자들에게 자신이 습득해야할 지식을 인터넷의 정보와 연계?사고하면서 문제해결, 현상파악, 의사결정을 할 수 있는 능력, 의식, 태도를 구비하도록 도와주는 교육이 시급히 요구되고 있다. 현재 교육에서 견지되고 있는 산업화시대 일변도의 교육방법에서 탈피하여 정보화시대의 교육에 적용 가능한 새로운 교수 학습모형의 필요성을 충족하기 위해 본 연구는 구성주의에 입각한 교수학습모형인 인터넷활용 문제중심학습 모형의 제시를 목적으로 하고 있다. 본 연구에서 제시하고 있는 수업모형은 기존의 단편적인 인터넷활용 수업과는 달리 교사들이 교육현장에서 실제로 적용할 수 있도록 수업의 설계, 개발, 실행, 평가의 전 단계를 10단계로 체계화?세분화하여 구체적으로 설명하고 있다. 또한 인터넷활용 문제중심 학습모형은 한 연구를 통해 7차 교육과정에 실제로 적용되어 현장 적용성을 높였고, 또 다른 연구를 통해 정보화능력과 파지능력을 제고시키는 학습효과가 검증되었다. 그리고 본 수업모형은 여러 형태의 체계적인 정보화시대의 교수학습 모형들을 창출하는데 기반이 되고 있다.
For the learners who would live in the full-blown information society of the 21st century, education should starts the new directions to provide all the possible capabilities of information literacy requiring to the successful life in the forthcoming era. Therefore, This study proposes a model of problem-based learning with internet to be useful for practicing the real-world information literacy. In order to be practically applied in school classroom settings, This study specifically prescribes the phases of the design, development, implementation, and evaluation in its model as 10 steps. They are as follows. 1) identification of the problem, 2) statement of learning objectives, 3) design of non-constructivist instruction-learning activities for the effective and efficient learning, 4) development of cyber learning space, 5) introduction, 6) presentation of the problem to the learners, 7) realizing the problem situation and planning for information collection by learners, 8) performing the collection of information mainly with internet, 9) presenting the final solutions for the problem, 10) summative evaluation.
