의학분야에서 사용하기 시작한 문제해결학습(Problem-Based Learning)이 교실수업에 적용되며 많은 변화와 관심을 불러일으킨 배후에는 전통적인 교육과정과 수업방법에 대한 비판의 목소리와 주관론을 바탕으로 하는 구성주의 학습이론이 있었기 때문일 것이다. 그러나 이러한 시대적인 요청에도 불구하고 현재 교실수업에서 문제해결학습의 적용은 그리 쉽지 않은 듯하다. 문제해결학습은 기존의 강의식 수업과 많은 면에서 차이를 나타낸다. 이러한 차이는 현재 교실수업에 아무런 지원방안 없이 문제해결학습을 도입했을 때 발생할 수 있는 어려움을 예견한다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 교실수업에서 성공적인 문제해결학습이 이루어지기 위한 조건을 찾아보고 그 조건을 최대한 충족시킬 수 있는 지원방안이 모색되어져야 할 것이다. 이에 교실수업에서 문제해결학습이 성공적으로 수행되기 위한 조건인 ①비구조적인 문제의 제시, ②학습목표에 근거한 학습자원의 제시, ③협동적 학습과 개별적인 지식구성 경험 제공을 효율적으로 지원할 수 있는 교육정보화 차원의 지원을 모색해 보면 다음과 같다. 1) ‘PBL(Problem-Based Learning) 문제은행’ DB 구축 2) 문제해결학습 지원을 위한 ‘주제별 정보 게이트웨이’ 개발 3) 웹을 통한 협동학습 및 자기주도적 학습 지원 4) 교육과정의 개선 5) 교육정보화연수의 개선
The purpose of this paper is to explore plans for supporting the successful implementation of PBL(Problem-Based Learning) method in schools.PBL, one of new methods of learning and teaching, has many difficulties in implementing it to school environment. It is a preliminary step to find the problem that disturbs launching PBL in schools successfully. On this point, this study is to research the problem and to suggest five plans for supporting successful implementation of PBL method in schools. The suppport plans are as follows; 1) To develop a 'PBL-Subjects Database' : It will help teachers save their time and efforts in preparing their own lecture with PBL method. 2) To develop 'Subject-Based Information Gateways(SBIGs)' : It will help teachers and students find high quality information for their PBL-based classes efficiently and effectively. 3) To research and develop Web-Based Learning Skills and Method' : It will provide various technical support to teachers and students for PBL activities on web environment. 4) To revise 'Curriculum' : It will help teachers spend much time in implementing new teaching method. 5) To revise 'Faculty Development Program' : It will help teachers learn about new technologies combined with new teaching method, such as PBL.
