본 연구는 국가 수준에서 수집된 설문 조사 결과 분석을 통해 우리나라 고등학교 학생들의 자기주도적 학습능력 실태를 알아보고 자기주도적 학습능력에 영향을 미치는 변인들을 분석하고자 하였다. 또한 자기주도적 학습능력들과 사교육 참여도 사이의 관계를 학생 유형화 분석을 통해 탐색하였다. 연구 결과 우리나라 고등학교 학생들의 자기주도적 학습 능력은 ‘보통 수준 이하’로 낮게 나타났으며 학교에서 제공하는 자기주도적 학습 기회도 ‘가끔’ 제공되는 수준인 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 자기주도적 학습 능력에 영향을 미치는 변인으로서 교사가 제공하는 자기주도적 학습 기회, 학생 수준에 대한 배려, 교과외 교육활동 참여도가 유의미한 변인으로 나타났으며 이중에서도 교과외 활동 참여도가 가장 영향력이 큰 설명변인이라는 결과가 나왔다. 그러나 기존 연구에서 중요한 관련변인으로 논의되어 온 사교육 참여여부는 자기주도적 학습능력을 설명하는 데 있어 유의미하지 않은 변인으로 나타났다. 사교육 참여도와 자기주도적 학습능력 간 관계에 대한 보다 세밀한 분석을 위해 군집분석을 실시한 결과 사교육 참여도와 자기주도적 학습능력 간의 관련성은 4가지 유형으로 나타났다. 군집분석 결과 발견된 4가지유형과 배경변인들 사이의 관련성을 분석하여 사교육과 자기주도적 학습능력 사이의 복합적인 관련성에 대한 논의를 시도하였다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the current condition of self-directed learning(SDL), and analyzed significant variables explaining the SDL using a survey data at national level. The relationship between SDL and private tutoring was also explored through a cluster analysis. The results of analyses showed that high school students perceived their SDL low. The frequency of experiencing SDL was found to be 'sometimes'. As critical variables explaining the students' SDL ability, opportunities of SDL provided by teachers, caring student's level, and participation in extra curriculum activities were found to be statistically significant. Among these variables, participation in extra curriculum activities was the most significant variable. However, unlike the results of previous studies, private tutoring was not a significant variable explaining the variance of SDL. For a more valid understanding of the relationship between SDL and private tutoring, a cluster analysis was conducted. The results of analysis reported 4 different clusters reflecting the relationship between SDL and private tutoring. By analyzing the results of cluster analysis by background variables, a compound relationship between SDL and private tutoring was discussed.
