본 연구는 정서지능의 구성요소와 실증적 연구 결과를 분석함으로써 정서지능이라는 구인의 타당성 을 살펴보고, 이를 통해 정서지능을 활용한 보다 의미 있는 프로그램 개발에 함의를 제공하고자 수 행되었다. 정서지능의 구성요소와 관련하여 초기 모형과 수정 모형 간의 차이를 분석하였으며, 실증 적 연구 결과에 대해서는 정서지능과 일반지능 그리고 정서와 관련된 정의적 요인들 간의 관계를 검증한 문헌들을 분석하였다. 이를 통해, 정서지능의 구인 타당도를 확인하는데 있어 가장 시급히 해결되어야 할 문제가 정서지능의 측정도구라는 결론을 얻었으며, 보다 타당한 검사 도구를 개발하 는데 필요한 요인이 무엇인지에 대한 방법론적 제안을 하였다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 내용은 앞으로 정서지능에 기초한 다양한 교육 프로그램을 개발하는데 있어 유용한 시사점을 제공할 것으로 기대 된다.
This study explores the construct validity of the emotional intelligence through analyzing two proposed models by Mayer and Salovey, and empirical research results related to various validities of the emotional intelligence. Regarding theoretical structure of the emotional intelligence, we compared between initially proposed model and revised model by Mayer and Salovey. Concerning validity issue, we examined contents, discriminant, convergent, and predicted validity from various research based on emotional intelligence. Our analysis suggested that it is needed to examine the contents and manipulations of the emotional intelligence measuring instrument. The suggestions in thhis study would be helpful for developing more valid and useful educational programs based on emotional intelligence
