고대로부터 지금까지 인간의 모습은 미술의 중요한 주제가 되어왔다. 동서양을 막론하고 회화외 기원을 살펴보면 가장 먼저 표현되었거나 소재가 되었던 것은 인물화였다.(박옥규, 1988). 이것은 예술 충동이 발휘되기 시작하는 아동의 그림에서도 증명되고 있으며 인간의 충동이 생활과의 밀접한 관계에서 성립되며 예술의 세계가 현실을 떠다 가공적이라 할 지라도 현실 속의 인물을 벗어날 수 없기에 인간 자체에 대한 흥미는 지극히 당연한 것이라고 하겠다. 결국 인간의 육체를 이상화 시키는 과정은 미술사의 근본이 되었으며, 인간의 심성에 있는 에로티시즘을 염두에 두지 않더라도 미를 위해 인간의 육체를 탐구하고 표현하는 노력은 전 미술사를 통해 끊임없이 이어져 오는 현상이며 미술이 존속하는 한 이러한 전통은 계속될 것이다. 이려한 전통의 기반 위에 누드는 고대와 현대를 잇는 중요한 소재로서 끊임없이 세기의 위대한 작가들에 의해 표현되었으며 또한 커다란 관심사로 여전히 존재하고 있다. 회화의 황금시기에 있어서 누드는 위대한 많은 작품들 중에 영감을 주어 왔으며 또한 아카데믹한 연습이나 기법을 숙달하는 실례로서 그 지위를 지켜왔다. 이처럼 서양미술에 있어서 장구한 누드화외 지속은 동양이 자연주의적 사고에 입각해 육체를 초월한 정신주의에 생존의 가치를 둔데 반하여 서양에서는 건강한 육체의 아름다움과 영혼의 일치감을 과 영혼의 일치감을 반영하고 있기 때문이다. 건강한 육체에 건전한 정신이 깃든다고 하는 사고방식, 즉 완벽한 식) 흑 완벽한 육체미와 정신적인 미가 일치한다는 고대 그리스인의 사상적 배경에 그 뿌리가 있따고 볼 수 있다(이윤동 1985).
This study focuses on the fact that the naked human body which is transformed with the diversity of ratio and with the changes of dynamic forms, through ancient to present has been chosen as matter of art works. The forms art concentrated its ultimate goal on showing the human dignity. The nude, in history of Arts, came out first in the Old Stone Age. The first nude in its real sense, however, looked its origin back on the greek if investigating the history of the nudes from the Renaissance to modern paintings. Since modem western fine arts had its roots in ancient Greece, it stressed the formational human dignity. But the concept of the nude had been demolished and deformed in present times. For modern times such human dignity was no longer necessary in the nude, it had been resulted in the various distorted view in many aspects. This study is to find out the changes of the nude and power of its continuing movement. Hence, it needs firstly to analyses the trends of representation and views on the nude according to social and cultural situations.
