본 연구는 한국화 재료를 활용한 미술치료가 노인의 우울과 자기표현에 어 떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보기 위한 것이다 연구대상은 정신과 전문의에 의해 우울증 진단을 받은 79세(여)의 노인으로, 2007년 2윌 23일부터 4윌 5일까지 총 23회기 실시하였다. 우울 변화를 얄아보기 위해 한국형 노인우 울검사(KGDS), 인물화검사(DAP), 언어 적 자기표현과 미술적 자기표현을 분석하였다 이에 대한 결 과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국형 노인우울검사(KGDS)에서 사후검사가 사전검사에 비해 4점 감소하 였다 둘째, 인물화검사(DAP)에서 사전검사시, 목 안에 눈, 코, 입을 그렸으나 사후검사에서 얼굴 부위로 눈, 코, 입이 전환되었고 귀가 추가로 그려졌다. 셋째, 초기 언어 표현에서는 자신의 능력을 부정하거나 단순한 응탑만을 하였으나 중기 이후 언어 표현이 증가하였다 따라서 한국화 재료를 활 용한 미술치료가 노인의 우울 감소와 자기표현 향상에 효과가 있었다고 볼 수 있다 이러한 긍정적 인 결과는 한지가 갖는 독특한 질감과 안료를 깊이 흡수하는 특성, 자연스러운 형상으로 인한 이미 지가 노인의 정서안정과 감정발산에 의 미 있게 작용하였다고 본다.
The purpose of this study is to see how art therapy using Korean painting materials affects the elderly depression and self-expression. The research was conducted with a 79-year-old woman diagnosed of depression by a psychiatrist in a total of 23 sessions from February 23 to April 5, 2007. The Korean Geriatric Depression Scale (KGDS), the Draw A Person (DAP) test, and analysis of verbal self-expression and artistic self-expression were carried out to examine changes in depression. The results were as follows: First, as for KGDS, post-test showed a four-point reduction than pretest. Second, as for the DAP test, pretest showed eyes, the nose, and the mouth within the neck, but post-test showed eyes, the nose, and the mouth transferred to the face region with ears added. Third, verbal expression at the early stage showed negation of their ability or simple responses; however, there was an increase in verbal expression after the middle stage. Thus, art therapy using Korean painting materials was effective to reduce depression and to improve self-expression of the elderly. Such a positive result demonstrates that the characteristic feel of Korean paper, deep absorption of colors, and image by natural shapes exerted significant effects on their emotional stability and expression of feeling Key Words : Depression, self-expression, Korean painting material
