본 연구는 보육교사들이 색채선호와 정서지능은 어떠한지 그리고 선호색채에 따라 정서지능은 차이가 있 는지를 알아보고자 전남지역의 보육교사 198명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 색채선호 측정도구로는 Howard ＆ Dorothy Sun(1992)의 CRR도구를 사용하였고, 정서지능 측정도구로는 최승규(2001)의 측정도구를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료의 통계처리는 보육교사들의 색채선호와 정서지능의 일반적인 경향을 알아보기 위해 평균과 표준편차를, 보육교사들의 일반적 특성에 따라 정서지능에 차이가 있는지 ANOVA 분석을, 분석 결과 유의미한 차이가 나타난 변인에 대해서는 Duncan통계량을 이용한 사후검증을 실시하였다. 분석한 결과 보육교 사들이 가장 좋아하는 색은 초록(28.8%)이였고 다음이 노랑(22.2%)으로 나타났다. 보육교사들의 정서지능은 3.54 점으로 조금 높은 편이었고 보육교사의 일반적 특성에 따른 정서지능의 차이는 결혼여부, 경력, 학력에서는 유 의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았으나 연령과 어린이집유형에 따라서 정서지능의 하위영역에서 차이가 있는 것으 로 나타났다. 보육교사의 정서지능이 색채선호에 따라 차이가 있는지를 알아보기 위하여 난색(빨강, 주황, 노 랑), 한색(파랑, 청록, 남색), 중성색(초록, 보라, 마젠타)으로 분류하여 분석한 결과 난색을 선호하는 보육교사의 정서지능(M=3.51, SD=.33)이 가장 높게 나타났고, 한색을 선호한 보육교사의 정서지능(M=3.32, SD=.34)이 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 어린이집환경구성과 보육교사들의 착의상태 및 보육교사들도 선호하고 영유아의 정서 적 발달에도 도움을 주는 난색계통이 적극 활용될 수 있다는 점을 시사한다고 할 수 있다.
The objective of this investigation was to find out if there existed any differences in emotional intelligence of early childhood teachers grouped according to the colour preference criterion. The study sample included a total of 198 subjects recruited from the teachers of child-care centers in Jeonnam Province. The research instruments applied were EQ textbook of Siegfried Brockert and Gabriele Brown and colour preference sheet which is used in Howard and Dorothy Sun’s CRR test. The obtained results showed that early childhood teachers preferred green colour most(28.8%) and the next one was yellow(22.2%). The score of emotional intelligences of early childhood teachers was 3.54 which is slightly over median score, the score of ‘recognizing others emotion’was the highest and ‘self-motivationing’ was the lowest. There were differences in the score of sub-division of emotional intelligence by age and the type of facilities. The subjects who preferred warm colors showed high score in emotional intelligence(M=3.51, SD=.33) while the subjects who preferred cool colors showed lower scores in emotional intelligence(M=3.32, SD=.34). This result indicates that warm colors can be recommended for the colour of child-care centers and teachers' clothes.
