한국의 미술치료는 지난 25년간의 급격한 양적 팽창을 하였으나, 질적으로 평준화되지 못하고 부실한 교과 과정의 운영 및 무분별한 자격증 발급으로 인해 미술치료사의 자질에 대한 문제가 끊임없이 제기되어 왔다. 이 에 본 연구는 국내 대학내 교육과정, 학회 및 협회, 기관의 현황에 대한 선행연구를 바탕으로 한 SWOT 분석을 통해 한국 미술치료의 교육과정과 제도 및 현황에 대한 강점(Strength), 약점(Weakness), 기회요인(Opportunity), 및 위협요인(Treat)을 분석함으로써 미술치료의 전략적 발전 방안 모색해 보았다. SWOT요인을 기반으로 한 SWOT 매트릭스 분석을 통한 한국미술치료를 위한 발전전략은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 특수대학원 소속에서 일반대 학원 소속으로의 변화를 통해 교육과정을 확대하며 졸업을 위한 임상실습의 의무적 이수시간을 부여 및 수퍼 비전에 대한 질적 향상을 도모해야 한다. 둘째, 미술치료사 자격관리의 표준화를 통한 미술치료사의 자질에 대 한 내부적 움직임이 필요하다. 셋째, 기관에서의 미술치료사의 비정규적이고 비전문적인 고용인식 수정을 통한 고용안정이 이루어져야 한다.
Even though Korean art therapy has drastically and quantitatively expanded over time last 25 years, questions remain regarding the qualification of Korean art therapists on account of qualitative non-standardization, poor curriculum and a system that over-issues of art therapist certificate For this reason, this study explored developing a strategy for Korean art therapy analyzing the strength, weakness, opportunity, and treat(SWOT) elements of the educational process, qualification system, and institution of Korean art therapy using SWOT analysis based on literature reviews. The SWOT matrix analysis helped in developing an executable strategy for Korean art therapy. The strategy is as follows. First, moving the major of art therapy program from special graduate school to general graduate school is needed to expand the educational system, require certain hours of clinical training, and qualitatively improve on supervision. Second, for standardization in the art therapist certification system, a more standardized and improved system is needed for the qualification of art therapists is necessary. Third, employment stability for art therapists can be created by changing the perception that current art therapy positions are non-regular and unprofessional.
