A Study on The Integral Arts Education for Children - with a forcus on Artsplay -

Every child has inborn curiosity to his surroundings and has desire to express feeling. Since when child is just one year old, such desire is shown through a form of uurestricted play such as drawing a line or a picture. Play is the natural behavior through which man expresses his feeling and purifies himself in freedom and amusement. During the period of childhood, artistic expression is shown through play. Through play children may express themselves without any pressure or preconception by adult and develop their ability of thinking or doing to the best. Play is very important in developing children’s character. Education through artsplay has its purpose not for the results such as perfect reproduction on polished technique but to the process itself in which they freely and interestingly cultivate their easthetic emotion and creativity. For the children, with no restrication, to express their intension and feeling and grow up wita sound personality, expression teaching must be carried out not by one but many fields of art such as painting, music, drama, dance and so on while they are in kindergarten or the lower classes in elementary school. Creative expression activities during one’s childhood are important for developing his character. And think there must be ordered a new method on guiding children in their artsplay. For the purpose of the aforementioned study, I studied as follows; First: By the analysis of specific property in artsplay, I clarified the meaning of play and artistic expressions through children’s artsplay. Second: As a method on guiding artsplay, I presented the way of inducing motives and guidance plan. I hope this study may be served as a new direction in guidance of children’s artsplay.
