The world has rapidly been changed. And frequent interactions have been occured between the nations. This pheonomenon happens not only in politics, economics, but academics, culturals, sports, and soon. Under this mood, the nations might lose their cultural distinctions unless they have clear understandings for their cultural traditions. It means that they might be in dangers of losing the identifications, just keeping on cultural immitations, finally getting into subsided cultures. Therefore, we must try to renew the consciousness of our cultural traditions and redifine the values for then. We must be also very considerate when we meet the other cultures. When we have to contact with the foreign cultures, it is the rightous attitude that we accept them in the base of our cultural background. In this context, this thesis focuses on the traditional beauty in terms of the early western drawings, as on of the works on purpose of defining right direction for the researches of Korean traditions. This thesis also tries to clarify the fact that tradition does not mean any techniques, and forms, but it transforms according to periodical consciousness in the roots of the nation's spiritual properties. From this research, we reveal the unique tradtitional beauty that can be characterized in Korean drawings in 5,000 years history throughly. It tries to find the inconsistencies in the early western drawings in terms of the traditional beauty and reflect them in the flows of the whole traditional Korean drawings. I hope, this study would be a piece of work that formulate new Korean cultural traditions in the world, so that we achieve the Korean beauty in many crosscultural encounters.
