The purpose of the study was to examine the effectiveness of the art program based on Discipline Based Art Education(DBAE) and multi-cultural an education for improving children's creativity. The study included 1) the definition of DBAE, multi-culturalism, multi-cultural art education and multi-cultural art education based on DBAE, and 2) its ten instructional plans. This study investigated the applicability of the art program based all DBAE and multi-cultural art education for developing creativity. Twenty-three elementary students(Grade 1 through Grade 6) participated in YWCA art program were sampled as subjects of the study to examine the educational effectiveness of the program in an educational setting in Korea. The analysis of findings of the survey provided twenty-three elementary students' opinions on the program. The result of the questionnaire showed positive attitude toward the implication of this program. The recommendlions for the future application of an art program for developing creativity based on DBAE and multi-cultural art education were as follows: 1) The importance of the role of art education in our lives should be recognized and revalued; 2) For future curriculum differentiation, more systematic and organized art program based on DBAE and multi-cultural art education to cope with ever-changing post -modern society should be developed; and 3) More basic and detailed research, model projects and advocacy efforts on DBAE and multi-cultural art education are needed. All the efforts to develop and implement art programs by art educators and art teachers should be encouraged and supported.
