Today, the teaching of art is an accepted part of the school curriculum. However, art education remain fragmented in their teaching without a lucid understanding of the necessary components for art curriculum. There are two approaches which can enhance a better understanding of art. The first is guided exposure which can gradually lend to appreciation and admiration of art. The second is through actual participation in the creative process. It is crucial that there two appreciation are not kept separate but are employed in conjunction so that one fosters the others. In the appreciation of art, Feldman and Mittler suggest the techniques of art criticism required to be a good appreciator and critic of art. The techniques of art criticism: (1) description. (2) analysis,(3) interpretation and (4) evaluation.
