This study examined the formation process of Peabody project and Mr.Don Sudlow from a point of view on the Art Education in Korea. The study included 1) the activities of the American Education Operation Mission, 2) the dispatch details of the George Peabody College for Teachers Operation Mission, 3) the activities of the Peabody Operation Mission in Korea, 4) consideration about Mr.Don Sudlow, and 5) the examination of the materials for Peabody. Until now, art education in Korea is mainly influenced by American and Japanese theories of art education. Especially, I think the influence which Peabody Operation Mission of the U.S.A exerted on the Korean art education to be very big but, the detailed researchs related to this have not been done. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to clear the relations between the Korean art education and the activity of Peabody Operation Mission in Korea. The paper concludes that this approach made clear about the Peabody Operation Mission and Don Sudlow who spread, in Korea by this research like a fact. Moreover, the mistake of the record was pointed out through the study of the materials of Peabody, and it could contribute to the future definite research activities.
