韓國人의 色彩意識에서 보이는 二重構造
The Study on Dual Structure in Korea Sense of Color - The chief instructor to produce professional education for children through Art at the Graduate School of Education of Kyunghee University
For some scholars defining the Korean aesthetic variously as the beauty of nature, naivety, simplicity, ornament, etc., we can find that Korean sense of color has contrary dual structure in the aesthetic. So to speak, if the color sense means the sense to apply the color to our common life wisely, the significant and meaningful colors are white and 5 colors, that are contrary to each other in characteristics and affect deeply and intensively to us Koreans. The above features are closely connected with the Korean traditional naturalism of our own and oriental thoughts based on the Five Elements(metal, wood, water, fire, earth) in the cosmic dual forces (what we call Eumyangohang). The Korean thoughts of traditional naturalism has inclined to reject colorfulness and strong comparison with colors and also intend to use only white, but on the other hand it has accepted the 5 colors mysteriously and symbolically, affected by the oriental thoughts of Eumyangohang. Hence, the main contents and purpose on this study is to research Korean sense of color that is contrary to each other in the Korean aesthetic. First of all, we have to research how Koreans use the colors and apply them to their daily life through their own thoughts and consciousness, so draw the Korean contrary sense of color as our purpose. In addition to the above mentioned, we will research which motions has been caused to our ancestors and effected to their behaviors by the contrary color sense. In conclusion we have to discuss the significance and the value of it. Because we recognize well that the color surely has affected to us Koreans psychologically and internally even today.
