This study purposes to reveal the necessity of the operation of art subject teaching system of elementary school and to explore the methods of Korean painting education in the art teacher. First, this study discusses the difficulty of the teacher in Art-education, the consequent necessity of operating the art subject teaching system of Elementary School, the current situation of art subject teaching system of Elementary School, and the proposal for its improvement. Next, this study examines the in-service education program for the Art-education teachers in the different national universities of education. Here, this study finds out the low rate of the Korean painting education in current in-service education program. Therefore, this study argues the importance and necessity of the systematic in-service education program for Korean painting education. Finally, this study explores the advisable direction of Korean painting education in elementary school and its practical teaching methods. Specially, this study presents the examples for its methods to lead the students to make good uses of Korean painting's materials and instruments, and to access to the creative expression.
