  • 185

In other words, it is a proper way to change the human-centered views and lifestyles to those centering on ecology, where not only nature and humankind but also all lives and lifeless matters harmoniously coexist, thereby restoring human lives to the original state, and restoring devastated environment in order to secure human life and happiness. This study, in this context, examines the necessity of meditation for young children as one way of Art Activities, and provides case studies on meditation activity that is highly adoptable to integrated curriculums of child education. This study aims at considering the necessity of meditation of children and proposing examples of meditation that helps development of children and that is easy to adapt to child education curriculums. This study carried out meditation curriculums every day from Mar. 2005 to Jun 2005 to 4 to 5 year old children in a kindergarten, by integrating the program with meaningful life themes. It is obviously shown in the study that child meditation activities actually helped children to have more curiosity and naturally relax tension and stress therefore improve their concentration abilities. After the meditation program, they became more sensitive and concentrative, saw themselves in more objective way, and expressed what they had felt more vividly. As such, meditation activities can reduce children's psychological stress, bring about emotional stability, foster pure minds and relaxed, patient and careful attitude, helping children to grow with sound mind and body. Therefore, it is very reasonable to propose that meditation curriculums be a part of the education curriculums.
