총체예술(Gesamtkunstwerk)관점에서 본 바우하우스 미술교육

바우하우스는 산업과 예술의 결합을 시도한 근대시기의 대표적인 미술교육 기관이다. 특히 디자인 교육의 시발점이 된 학교 교육기관으로서의 의미가 크다. 바우하우스의 창립 의도는 단순히 새로운 예술교육을 제안하는 것 보다 훨씬 더 광범위한 것으로, 교육의 덕분으로 삶 속에 예술을 삽입시킬 수 있는 완전한 개체를 형성하는 것으로부터 환경에서의 예술의 역할에 이르기까지 다양한 문제를 제시했다(김미영, 1997).

Bauhaus was a new paradigm of the art education in those days and has an enormous effect on the curriculum of the college of art today. It has affected the art education and the art history, and we need to study on this continuously. The object of this article is a specific discussion of Bauhaus in terms of Gesamtkunstwerk(the so-called total works of art) theory which is one of fundamental constitutions. At first, this article studies the original meaning of Gesamtkunstwerk which stemmed from the opera of Richard Wagner(1813-1883) and the historical meaning of it from the art point of view. Next, this study explores the meaning and aim of foundation and the curriculum of Bauhaus in terms of Gesamtkunstwerk. Finally, this article studies the important works and artists of Bauhaus from the Gesamtkunstwerk point of view such as Walter Gropius(1883-1969), Oskar Schlemmer (1889-1943), Wassily Kandinsky(1866-1944), L?szlo Moholy-Nagy(1895-1946). The common findings of works of Gesamtkunstwerk theory are the close combinations and organizations of different media or genre for the purpose of unification of the same motif. The studies of curriculums and products of Bauhaus from the Gesamtkunstwerk point of view will be helpful on that of methodology of the modern art education, especially inter- and intra-disciplinary integration.
