21 세기 지식 기반 사회를 주도할 고급 디자인 인력을 육성하기 위해서는 여러 조건 들이 마련되어야 하는데 여기에는 미래지향적이고 전문적인 교육과정의 지속적인 개 발, 우수한 교수진의 확보, 연구 지원의 강화, 바람직한 교육 환경의 조성 및 우수한 학생 자원을 선발하여 교육하는 일 모두가 포함된다. 빠르게 변화하는 시대 속에서 미래를 선도할 창조적이고 능력 있는 디자인 전문가를 육성하기 위하여 국내 대학들 이 무엇보다도 우수한 인재 선발에 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다는 사실에 주목하면서, 입시 전략 여하에 따라 우수한 자원 확보가 가능하다는 믿음에 근거, 대학별 특성에 맞는 적절한 입시 전형 방법에 대한 기초적인 조사가 절대적으로 필요하다는 외부적 요구에 의하여 본 연구가 착수되었다.
Every year, each universities' screening system of entrance examination to college has changed a great deal in Korea. There were various reasons for changing, but they were differed respectively. This study was funded by Duksung Women's University, Seoul, Korea, in order to alter and find the better ideas for its current screening system of entrance examination. Thus, the purpose of the study was to suggest ideas of ways to select excellent students majoring in design for the university. This study included 2 parts; the first was done by literature research about 'colleges of design' (synonym: 'division of design', 'school of design', 'department of design', 'major in design') in universities located in Seoul, screening systems of each universities, its procedures and actual performance tests in design area, and the second, interviewed data from 8 interviewees was collected and analyzed. The recommendations for the study was follows: 1) To level up the degree of acknowledgement of each universities, it would be a way to provide art & design contests for high-school students or to make propaganda for the strategic PR on college. 2) The screening system of each universities should be varied and diverse in its strategic methods. The first possibility was to increase the number of on-demands applications, and the second was to reconsider the current 'Ga-Na-Da' territories the college of design affiliated with. The third was to balance or adjust each percentage of screening elements of 'high school records', 'entrance examination', 'interview', 'oral examination', 'actual performance test of design', and 'writing examination'. 3) In executing the actual performance test in design, the types of test should be diversified, and the standard criterion for screening should be prepared in detail before tests. Also, the organization of screening committee should be reconsidered, and at last, the consistent research based on actual simulation is needed for improving the system i
