스마트 시대라는 기술 중심적, 사회적 변화와 더붙어 부각되는 것은 ‘상상력의 시대’이다(김동윤, 2010; 정필운, 2011) 이에 테크놀러지 만능시대에 오히려 인간의 창의력, 상상력과 같은 감성적, 정의적 요소는 교수 학습환경의 중요한 요소로서 두각되 어 다양한 모색과 연구가 이어지고 있다 예를들어, 일반교과에 문화예술활동을 접목한 교과통합방식(강인애 · 설진성, 2010; 김정선 외 , 2008; 이 동연, 2009) 은 감성적, 정의적 요소를 강조하고자 하는 다양한 모색 중 하나로 볼 수 있다.
The advent of Creative Age requires new teaching and learning environments, which is to apply arts and culture education asteaching methods for interdisciplinary class. This study in this context designed and applied the new approach called ‘interdisciplinary approach utilizing arts and culture activities’ to 27 numbers of undergraduate students in K University during 6 weeks. The purpose of this study was to examine how effective the new approach would be in terms of learning achievement and degree of satisfaction, and the results showed positive effects in both aspects, after data analysis collected from students’ mind map, reflective journal, and final team project outputs. Especially students emphasized this way of learning approach enhanced their creative thinking and interest in their learning, while their project output clearly showed the expected level of learning achievement measured by the learning objectives of each project. Important is to make sure that the interdisciplinary class utilizing arts and culture activities is different from simply ‘art integrated learning approach’ in terms of that the first should include aspects of culture education which is to appreciate and recognize the cultural and social value and aspects of both the learner and others, while the latter is rather focused on using skills of each art genre such as music, fine art, and dance, for example. The interdisciplinary approach utilizing arts and culture activities have to be actively practiced as an alternative teaching and learning approach along with more case studies in further diverse fields.
