Particularly in aging society where life expectancy is long and people live many days in their old age, elders who have to prepare for their old age, gearing with their desire for learning as mentioned above and for independent life, are adding demand for sound leisure and cultural activities as well as education services adequate for their health condition. With these social changes and desire as the background, the present study examined elderly art education programs as an alternative for enhancing elders' adaptability to society and improving the quality of their life in the aging society. Art education for the elderly people should find its goals in guiding and helping elders so that they always learn and enjoy new things and feel the meanings of life and lead more active life in their old days. However, there are not many organized art education programs in the field of education for the elderly people. In order to overcome these problems and to find a method of activating elderly art education suitable for contemporary society, the present study performed a research on elderly art education from the viewpointof elderly education and art therapy based healing function of art.
