학생이 수업에서 겪는 소외 실태 연구: 초등학교 5학년 ’훈이‘의 사례를 중심으로

이 연구는 대도시 공단지역에 위치하고 있는 초등학교 5학년 남학생 ‘'훈이'’를 대상으로 교육 소외 실태를 조명한 사례연구이다. 이 논문은 ’훈이‘가 학교에서 보여주는 다양한 모습 속에서 교육소외가 어떻게 드러나고 있는지 그 이유는 무엇인지 집중 분석하고 있다. 이 연구에서 ‘'훈이'’는 다양한 모습의 교육소외 양상을 보여주고 있지만, 담임교사가 평소 가 지고 있는 ‘수업에서 하는 모든 일에 무기력 할 것’이라는 선입견과는 차이가 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 때로는 무력감, 무의미성, 무규범성, 고립, 자기소원과 같은 소외의 양상이 드러나기도 했 으나, 드물지만 능동성, 의미추구, 관심갖기, 자기완결적인 활동 등도 하고 있었다. 이렇게 다른 행동을 하는 원인이 ’훈이‘가 수업상황을 ‘복잡한 것’과 ‘복잡하지 않은 것’으로 구분하여 인식하 고 있으며 그에 따라 자신의 행동을 결정하고 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 그리고 이와 같은 교육 소외가 일어날 수 밖에 없는 이유는 바로 공학적 사고가 사회압력으로 작용하고 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 여기서 연구자는 교육소외를 극복하기 위해서는 사회압력으로 작용하는 공학적 사고를 중심으 로 교육이 이루어져서는 안되며 학생 개인을 중심으로 교육이 이루어져야 함을 구체적 체험을 통해 확인 할 수 있었다.
