이 연구는 한국과 일본의 현행 개정 초등학교 체육교육과정을 비교？분석하여, 앞으로의 한국의 초등학교 체육교육과정 수시 개정에 시사점을 얻기 위해 이루어졌다. 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 양국의 국가수준 체육교육과정 문서와 관련서적, 연구 문헌 등을 수집하여 체육교육과정의 문서 체제, 목표, 내용, 시간 운영, 평가 면을 비교 연구하였다. 이러한 연구 방법을 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 양국 모두 국가수준의 교육과정 내에서 학교 급의 자율성을 존중하고 있다. 둘째, 한국은 체육과 총괄목표 아래 신체 활동 가치 별로 5 개의 하위 목표를 제시하고, 일본은 체육과 교과목표 아래 학년 별로 3개의 목표를 진술하 고 있다. 셋째, 한국은 영역별로 신체활동의 예시만 제시하고 구체적인 수업 내용은 교사가 수업 여건에 맞게 구성하도록 하고 있고, 일본은 저？중？고학년으로 구분하여 구체적인 수 업 내용까지 국가수준에서 구체적으로 제시하고 있다. 넷째, 양국 모두 연간 시수 기준으로 수업 운영의 자율성을 학교 급에 부여하고 있다. 마지막으로 한국은 평가 기준과 방법에 대 해 국가수준에서 상세하게 언급하고, 일본은 기본 지침만 국가수준에서 간략히 제시하고 구 체적인 방법은 학교 급에서 상세화가 이루어지고 있다.
The purpose of this study was to compare new version of Physical Education curriculum for elementary school between Korea and Japan, and to provide useful references for the Physical Education subject. The contents of study are to compare formation, goal, contents, time management, assessment of Physical Education curriculum of Korea with that of Japan. The major findings of this study are as follow; First, Physical Education curriculum of Korea and Japan have national curriculum formations. Second, Physical Education curriculum of Korea and Japan provide goals of national level but the ways of providing sub-objectives are different. Third, contents of Physical Education curriculum of Korea is more flexible about grade separation than that of Japan. So they could be selected on school facilities and learner's interests. Fourth, Physical Education accounts for about 10% in the curriculum in both Korea and Japan. Finally, assessment way of Physical Education of Japan is more changeable at school level than that of Korea.
