A Study on the Life Skill Education Program of Japan

In this study, the example of practice of the life skill education in school education of Japan was introduced and the role and necessity for life skill were examined. In the Ministry of Education, a way of thinking about 'zest for living' is accepted to a new government guideline for teaching that has been in effect after 2011, In primary, middle and high schools where the necessity for life skill education gradually increases, the life skill education is performed in 'period for integrated studies', 'special activities' and 'moral education' and good results are achieved. The life skill education becomes accepted as an effective means in the formation of the 'zest for living' at a school education field of Japan. The life skill education clarified subjects such as how to systematically meet according to a development stage, how to secure time to repeatedly practice skill to continuously strengthen each skill and how to evaluate after the life skill education is performed and pointed out the necessity for examination and creation of program of the life skill education according to a development stage from kindergarten pupil to member of society through not only a school education but also cooperation of a home, the community and a company.
