같음과 다름 사이에서 : 재한 조선족 여성의 정체성과 양육 경험

Between the ‘Sameness’ and the ‘Difference’: Experience for Identity and Parenting of Korean-Chinese Female in Korea

본 연구는 다문화 사회에 진입한 한국에서 다문화 가정으로 생활함에 있어 조선족 여성들이 자신의 정체성과 자녀의 양육과정에서 느끼는 어려움을 어떻게 체험하고 있는지 살피는 것에 목적이 있다. 한국인 남성과 결혼하여 현재 한국에서 거주 중인 조선족 여성 3인을 연구 참여자로 선정하여 한국에서의 생활과 양육 과정에서의 체험을 살펴보았다. 참여자 자신의 정체성에 대하여 ‘같음’이란 한국과 중국의 공간을 뛰어 넘는 민족성과 문화성을 의미했다. 한국인 가정과 ‘다름’으로 분류되는 다문화 가정이라는 이름 아래에서 베트남 또는 필리핀과 같은 다문화 가정과 비교했을 때, 한국인 가정과 ‘같음’으로 체험되는 경계선에 놓인 관계성을 알 수 있었다. 자녀 양육에 있어서 ‘같음’을 향해 가기 위해 노력했으나, 노력으로 뛰어 넘을 수 없는 ‘다름’을 신체적으로 체험하였다. 또한 자녀가 앞으로 경험할지도 모르는 ‘왕따’라는 것을 ‘다름’으로 받아들이며, 자녀에게 있어 ‘다름’에 대한 의미를 다시 재고하였다. 참여자들이 한국인들 속에서 암묵적으로 표현된‘같음’과 ‘다름’에 대한 체험적 의미를 이해함으로써 다문화 상담의 내담자에 대한 폭넓은 이해와 다문화 상담의 나아갈 방향을 제시하였다는 데에 그 의의가 있다.

This study is about married Korean-Chinese females a Koreans living in Korea who had difficulty with parenting problems and establish their identities. The subjects for this study were 3 Korean-Chinese females’ life and parenting in Korea. She reported that “Sameness” is ethnicity and culture which transcend space between Korea and China. The multi-cultural family in Korea is different from Korean family who have Korean mother. But she was more close to Korean family compared to other groups who have Vietnamese or Philippines mother. The research found that they are perched on a boundary about “Sameness”. Korean-Chinese mother try to assimilate to “Sameness” but they found that they are “Difference” in their physical experience. And they consider their children was bullied by others “Difference”. And she pondered on “Difference” to their children. They implicitly understand “Sameness” and “Difference” by experiencing in Korea. The findings of study will help multi-cultual counselor that support Korean-Chinese female in international marriage for their adjustment in Korea.
